Short Skirt Protest Ride Happens Tonight

by Drew Kolar

Attention ladies and gentlemen who support feminist movements: tonight, Cycle Chic is hosting a “Short Skirt Celebration Ride” in response to a May incident in which a female cyclist was pulled over for her outfit being “too distracting.”
According to the Daily News on Sunday, Dutch tourist Jasmijn Rijcken was pulled over by a cop on May 3 for showing too much skin on the roadway.
“He said it’s very disturbing, and it’s distracting the cars and it’s dangerous,” Rijcken said. “I thought he was joking around but he got angry and asked me for ID.”
Though the 31-year-old biker, a general manager of a Dutch bicycle company, was not given a ticket and did not get the officer’s name, she was left confused after the incident, as she believed her outfit was neither “harmful” nor “disturbing.”
“I was on my way back to the hotel when it happened and I changed into pants,” she added. “I didn’t want to get into trouble again.”
